During the last big sale at New Horizons I purchased the Women's Elevation Hoodie. I had been eyeing up this pattern since its release, but was always intimidated by all those 'V's' (if I haven't mentioned it, I HATE sewing V-necks, and I imagined this sweater similar to sewing a million of them). I couldn't resist any longer, I had some fabric that was screaming to be made into this pattern!

The pattern itself is pretty big, and the size range goes all the way from xx-small to 3x. Options include inset kangaroo pocket, cowl or wrap around hood. Suggested fabric includes pretty much anything with at least 35% stretch, including french terry, sweatshirt fleece and thick knits. There are also instructions on adding an optional drawstring to the hood (I didn't add one to mine, but I kinda wish I had).

I decided to use a cotton/lycra french terry
(black and two-tone charcoal from Purple Seamstress and a beautiful deep purple from Fringe). Since this pattern has so many pieces I kept each cut fabric piece with its respective pattern piece so I didn't loose track of anything (probably not necessary but I wasn't taking any chances).
The V's I had previously dreaded weren't nearly as bad as I had envisioned. Terra's instructions are just fantastic! (Make sure you don't skip the pressing on that part). On to the next challenge - welt pockets. Before this pattern I had only ever done these once (and I might have had some help), so I wasn't sure how these would go together, but again, I followed the detailed instructions and didn't have a single issue - and I gave myself a little pat on the back for not messing them up.

Note: I used a light-weight knit for part of the pocket - Terra suggested
I use interfacing on the entire piece and it worked out perfectly. What a great scrap buster! You can use a variety of different fabrics and can use hoarded fabrics for accents so you don't need to use as much. I used one of my favorite florals inside the hood and for the pockets.
This is definitely my new favorite sweater. Comfy and unique. I love how easily it went together and can see many more in my future - I have some fabric coming from Midnight Mountain that is definitely going to become part of an elevation.
